Filming a coaster facility for a Revl template

DJI Mavic 3
- 4K 3840 x 2160
- 60 fps
- D-Log

Sony A7SIII
- 4K 3840 x 2160
- 60 fps
- S-Log 3

GoPro Hero 10 Black
- 4K 3840 x 2160
- 60 fps
- Cinematic Mode
- Selfie Stick

  • Tour of the entire facility.
  • Take a ride on the coaster with the GoPro facing forward on a selfie stick.
  • Do this a couple of times to get b-roll of the ride as well as to familiarize yourself with the track.
  • Fly the drone and get high perspective shots of the track. This helps get a few
establishing shots as well as to understand the layout and terrain better.
  • Once a gameplan is made.  Walk the track from top to bottom filming with the Sony and Ronin as well as low level drone shots. Walk the track twice depending on how I feel about what I captured and others ideas that I might have come up with after the first round.
  • When filming specifically for the Revl template make sure to get shots that do not show the rider’s faces while still trying to show a variety of angles.
  • Once familiar with the facility and track, start to think about shots for the intro and outro. These shots need to be planned out specifically for the most impact.  Try to incorporate as much of the facility and the vistas as possible in these shots.
  • After going through everything mentally review everything that has been shot and think if there is anything missing or that can be done better. Walk the track, ride the coaster, and fly the drone again to be sure that I have captured it in full.
